Aflou

Aflou was born in 1992 into the Tujia ethnic group in Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province. Aflou is a Chinese singer-songwriter and producer whose music feels like a quiet conversation in a crowded city. A member of the Tujia ethnic minority, he brings a distinct perspective to China’s indie music scene, one shaped by cultural heritage, personal solitude, and the subtle emotional undercurrents of everyday life.

Aflou often is called as an urban poet. Aflou’s gentle and calm vocal tone gives his music depth and emotional elements. With a keen eye for fleeting urban sentiments, Aflou weaves these observations into music, crafting an intimate emotional landscape for contemporary youth.

He first started making music as a college student while studying in London in 2019, forming an alt-pop duo known as YUN SEN, with their song “All I Have” winning several indie awards. After returning to China, Aflou uploaded solo songs on Platform Weibo and gained popularity.

In 2022, he was awarded the Liu Huan Original Music Grant and released his critically acclaimed debut full-length album, Three Seconds to the Galaxy. The album charted 51 times across major platforms and won Best Album Visual Design at the 2023 Tencent Waves Music Awards, where Aflou was also nominated for Best New Artist.

His dynamic stage presence has graced over ten flagship music festivals, including Strawberry Music Festival, Midu Music Festival, and Corona SunSets Festival. In 2024, he competed on the S+-tier music competition show Sing! China 2024 followed by a nine-city tour across China.

Aflou unveiled his sophomore album, The Shouldn’t-Be Should, in 2025, launching a new chapter of touring and creative exploration.
